Colca canyon  

The Colca Canyon is located 180 km to the North of Arequipa. From this 3400 meters deep canyon we can see, on its right side, the Chila mountain range (Bomboya, Serpregina, Mismi, Queshihua), and on the other side, the Hualca Hualca, the Sabancaya and the Ampato. In the distance, one can make out the Ubinas and the fabulous Coropuna.

Attractions aroud the canyon

The Colca Valley : Located to the North-East of Arequipa, the Valley spreads over a hundred of kilometers. The Ampato volcano is the highest point of the Valley at 6388 masl whereas the Colca and Andamayo rivers are the lowest points. The Valley has a rich fauna and flora, one can observe condors from the Cruz del condor view point.

Bosque de Piedras of Imata : This petrified forest is made of different rocks. Erosion has modeled the rocks, that is why they have this particular shape now.

Ampato volcano : Covered in permanent snow, the volcano reaches 6288 meters of altitude. A mummy of an inca girl, "La dama de Ampato" was found on top of this volcano.
